2018 Acura MDX vs 2017 Acura MDX

Serving Fort Worth, Dallas, and Arlington, TX

The Acura MDX has been a strong selling three-row SUV since its introduction in 2000. The MDX has traditionally offered excellent reliability, performance, luxury and comfort. When it comes to customer satisfaction and durability ratings, the MDX has also excelled. Though Acura redesigned the MDX in 2017, here’s a list of improvements you can expect with the 2018 model.

What’s new for 2018?

The 2017 Acura MDX was redesigned with a new exterior appearance that won wide praise. The refreshed looks are present on the 2018 Acura MDX, with slight style changes to the hood and a slightly larger front grill. The 2018 Acura MDX will use the same 290hp V6 engine or a tri-engined hybrid system that produces a combined 321hp and 289lbs of torque, which bested vehicles like the Toyota Highlander and XC90 hybrid, according to Car and Driver. The 2018 Acura MDX also offers two new color choices, Basque Red and San Marino Red, both inspired by Acura’s international racing heritage.

On the inside of the car, Acura dialed in upgrades to their 2018 MDX. The one common complaint people had about the 2017 Acura MDX was the response time of its touch screen. For 2018, Acura redeveloped their seven inch touch screen for better response times, with Acura delivering a 30% improvement in touch screen speed. The 2018 Acura MDX also has a number of improvements to their rear passenger entertainment system monitor, compared to 2017. In terms of entertainment, the Acura has integrated Apple CarPlay and Android Auto into their vehicles as a standard feature. Overall, the dual screen system has been improved and optimized. AcuraWatch, Acura’s highly praised safety software suite, has been included as a standard feature to every MDX; in 2017 it was an option, in 2018 it is standard in every MDX.

The 2018 Acura MDX is easily the best value in the third-row SUV market. Other upscale car companies focus on frivolities, like scented ionizing dehumidifiers or 19-way massaging chairs. Acura offers a leather wrapped steering wheel that connects you to their torque vectoring Super Handling All Wheel Drive system. While some car companies want you to be primped, Acura wants you to be pumped. To get a sense of this exciting new 2018 Acura MDX, contact your local dealer and schedule a test drive today.
